| Q: I just got my new MH-C401FS charger & batteries. What do I need to do before first using them?
A: For new NiMH batteries, it is necessary to cycle (use ) them three to five times or more before they reach peak performance. Battery cycling can be achieved simply by using the batteries
and recharging them. Please note that the first few times you use them , they may not last as long as you would expect. This is normal until you have used your batteries several times and developed them to their full capacity.

Q: My C401FS charger came with POWEREX AA batteries. How do I charge AAA batteries?
A:
- The charger has two decks: the upper deck is for the AA batteries and the lower deck is for the AAA batteries. To install the AAA batteries, simply insert 1 or four of them into the lower deck, with the positive tip pointed up.
- Follow the directions in the product manual under "Charging Instructions. Always be sure to plug the charger in first and then insert batteries after the charger has booted and went through its setup sequence.
Q: Does the C401FS have the "recondition" feature like the C204F charger that I own.
A: The C401FS charger is so advanced that the internal charging circuit makes manual conditioning unnecessary. Since each battery is charged independently using the Flex Negative pulse charging algorithm, not only is each battery charged to its optimum capacity, but battery life is also enhanced. In fact, FLEX NEGATIVE pulse charging removes the crystal structure formed on battery electrodes (which is the source of "memory effect") and basically conditions your batteries as they are being charged. Full automatic charging on either Fast or Slow setting.

Q: I received my MAHA C401FS charger, but I do not think that the international power adaptor was included. I know I ordered it.
A: If you will look inside the box that your charger came in, you will find, in addition to the 12V car cord, a white box with an AC adaptor in it.
That is the international power adaptor. If you will read the tag on it, you will see that it says 110V-220V and 47-63Hz. This denotes that this adapter is not only US voltage ready but also
multi-voltage capable. This adapter replaces the standard US 110V 60Hz power adapter that normally comes with the standard MH-C401 US version. All you will then need in addition is a simple
plug adaptor to change the prongs from US-style to the proper prong style for the country where you are traveling. Click here for the prong adaptors we offer or they
are also available wherever you find travel accessories. |
Q: Can I leave my batteries in the charger until I need to use them?
A: Most NiMH batteries - including MAHA rechargeable batteries - can be left in the charger for an extended period of time without leakage, explosion, or deformation. However, do not store the batteries in the charger if it is not necessary or when the charger is not plugged in. Always store charged batteries in a cool location.
Q: I have not used my NiMH batteries in several months and they are not holding their charge. How can I fix this?
A: NiMH batteries will self-discharge if left unused. Generally, within 30 to 60 days, batteries will become completely drained. When using them, you will need to first recharge them. After extended storage, you may need to simply recharge the batteries several times to regain nominal performance.
Q: Can I use my MH-C401FS in the car?
A: Since the MH-C401FS runs on 12V DC, you can use it in the car provided that you have a cigarette lighter adapter (Maha Part Number: MHS-DC-124). Make sure that your vehicle is supplying 13.8V or below. Some trucks may have 24V. In addition, never plug in the charger or operate your charger while you are starting your vehicle. Only plug your charger in after your car is running and only isert your batteries after you have plugged your charger in.
Q: Can I use my MH-C401FS to charge "Renewal Alkaline" or other rechargeable Alkaline batteries?
A: No ! The MH-C401FSF is only compatible with NiCD and NiMH style rechargeable batteries. Charging "Renewal", other alkaline batteries, or any non-rechargeable batteries, may result in damage to charger or even fire.
Q: When I insert the batteries into my charger, there are no lights whatsoever. What could be wrong?
A: If no indicator is displayed, check your power source. Make sure it is plugged in correctly into a wall outlet with matching specification listed on the wall adapter. Also it is important to make sure that you plugged the charger in first before you insert your batteries. You must allow the charger to boot up and go through its diagnostic sequence. Then you may insert your batteries. If you still continue to experience difficulty, it may be possible that the wall adapter has failed. In that event, contact our customer service for assistance.
