Unlike other 9V battery chargers claiming to charge 9V rechargeable batteries in the car, the MH-C490F 9V battery charger has a patented automatic step-up voltage power supply design that makes it capable of charging 8.4V and 9.6V rechargeable batteries to their full capability using a 12V input voltage. 9.6V rechargeable batteries require a minimum of 10.7 volts of charging current thus requiring an input power voltage of 15V input to the battery charger itself (See Note)in order to charge rechargeable 9V batteries their full potential using 12V power from your car. The design of the MH-C490F battery charger makes this possible. The Maha MH-C490F battery charger is the one true 9V battery charger that is worthy of being called car capable.
Note: Even 8.4V rechargeable batteries will not charge to their full potential when charged with a battery charger that has a 12V power input. A higher input voltage is often required.
